A seven-day small-group tour on direct Air China flights from Hanoi, leaving at midday so you reach Beijing in time for dinner, then travelling south through Suzhou, Hangzhou and Wuzhen to Shanghai. Two full days in Beijing cover Tiananmen, the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace, the Bird’s Nest, the Great Wall, the Ming Tombs and free time on Wangfujing. On day four a second-class high-speed train takes you to Suzhou for the Lion Grove Garden and Hanshan Temple by Maple Bridge; the next day brings a boat trip on Hangzhou’s West Lake. Day six explores Wuzhen West before reaching Shanghai for the Bund, the City God Temple and Nanjing Road, and the final morning visits the Jade Buddha Temple before the flight to Hanoi. The price includes two flights with 23 kg checked baggage, a group visa for Vietnamese passports, local 4-star hotels, 6 breakfasts and 12 main meals, the bullet train, entrance tickets and a Vietnamese-speaking guide. The itinerary is billed as a tour without shopping stops.

Day-by-day itinerary

  1. Day 1 · Hanoi – Beijing

At around 09:45 the coach and guide collect you from the meeting point for Noi Bai Airport and the midday Air China flight to Beijing. You arrive in the early evening, go to dinner and then check in at the hotel.

  2. Day 2 · Tiananmen – Forbidden City – Summer Palace – Bird’s Nest

After breakfast, visit Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City; on peak days without palace tickets, the group visits the Temple of Heaven or Prince Gong’s Mansion instead. After lunch, tour the Summer Palace with Kunming Lake and Longevity Hill, then take photos outside the Bird’s Nest. Dinner and overnight in Beijing.

  3. Day 3 · Great Wall – Ming Tombs – Wangfujing

After breakfast, head out to the Great Wall. After lunch, visit Changling in the Ming Tombs, where a sacred way lined with stone figures guards the emperors’ graves. Late afternoon is free for shopping on Wangfujing, followed by dinner and overnight in Beijing.

  4. Day 4 · Bullet train Beijing – Suzhou

After breakfast, board a second-class high-speed train to Suzhou, about five and a half hours; if the timing overlaps lunch, a boxed meal is served on board. In Suzhou, visit the Lion Grove Garden, a classic Jiangnan garden, and Hanshan Temple by Maple Bridge. Dinner, free time in the old town, overnight in Suzhou.

  5. Day 5 · Suzhou – Hangzhou – West Lake

After breakfast, drive to Hangzhou for lunch and a boat trip on West Lake, passing Solitary Hill, Broken Bridge, the Su and Bai causeways and Three Pools Mirroring the Moon, scenes tied to the legends of the Butterfly Lovers and the White Snake. The Song Dynasty show can be bought separately in the evening; overnight in Hangzhou.

  6. Day 6 · Wuzhen West – Shanghai

After breakfast, explore Wuzhen West with its stone bridges, paved lanes and carved wooden houses more than a thousand years old. In Shanghai, pass People’s Square and Nanpu Bridge, see the Oriental Pearl Tower from the Bund, visit the City God Temple and enjoy free time on Nanjing Road. An optional Huangpu River cruise is available in the evening; overnight in Shanghai.

  7. Day 7 · Jade Buddha Temple – Hanoi

Check out after breakfast and visit the peaceful Jade Buddha Temple. After lunch, transfer to the airport for the early-afternoon flight to Hanoi; from Noi Bai you are driven back to the city centre, where the tour ends.
