A five-day small-group tour of two countries, flying from Ho Chi Minh City to Singapore and home from Kuala Lumpur, with group return flights included. Day one in Singapore takes in Jewel Changi, the Supertree Grove at Gardens by the Bay and Sentosa; the next morning you see the Merlion and the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple in Chinatown before crossing at Johor Bahru into Malaysia. You explore old Malacca with its Portuguese fort, Dutch Square and Cheng Hoon Temple, then the capital Kuala Lumpur for the Petronas Twin Towers, the Royal Palace and Merdeka Square. Day four rides the cable car up to Genting Highlands and climbs the 272 colourful steps of Batu Caves, and the last morning visits the new city of Putrajaya before the airport. You stay in 3-star hotels, with set meals including hotpot, barbecue and chilli crab. Ideal for travellers who want to see both Singapore and Malaysia in one trip on a moderate budget.

Day-by-day itinerary

  1. Day 1 · Ho Chi Minh City – Singapore – Sentosa

The tour leader meets you at Tan Son Nhat international terminal for the flight to Changi, where you stop at Jewel Changi for the indoor waterfall. After a light lunch, see the Supertree Grove of Gardens by the Bay from outside the domes, then cross to Sentosa for Resorts World and photos at the Universal Studios globe. The island aquarium is optional at your own cost if time allows. Dinner and overnight in Singapore; in the evening you can catch the light-and-water show, ride the MRT or take a river cruise on your own.

  2. Day 2 · Singapore – Johor Bahru – Malacca

After breakfast and check-out, visit Merlion Park and pass City Hall and the Esplanade, with stops at a jewellery shop and a medicated oil store. Lunch is a hotpot buffet, followed by the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and a stroll through Chinatown. The coach crosses at Johor Bahru into Malaysia and on to Malacca for the A Famosa fort, Dutch Square with its brick-red church and Cheng Hoon Temple. Dinner and overnight in Malacca.

  3. Day 3 · Malacca – Kuala Lumpur

After breakfast and check-out, drive to Kuala Lumpur with a stop at a chocolate shop on the way. Lunch is a barbecue feast, then the Royal Palace, Merdeka Square, the National Monument and photos of the Petronas Twin Towers from outside. Dinner features chilli crab, with the night in Kuala Lumpur.

  4. Day 4 · Thean Hou Temple – Batu Caves – Genting Highlands

After breakfast, visit the Chinese Thean Hou Temple, then Batu Caves to see the giant statue, climb the 272 colourful steps and try Indian pulled milk tea. The group stops at a local products store and a latex bedding showroom. In the afternoon ride the cable car up to Genting Highlands (cable car ticket included) for free time at the resort. Dinner and overnight in Kuala Lumpur.

  5. Day 5 · Putrajaya – Kuala Lumpur airport – Ho Chi Minh City

After breakfast and check-out, stop on the way to the airport at the new administrative city of Putrajaya, Putra Square and the pink-domed Putra Mosque. Check in at Kuala Lumpur airport for the flight back to Ho Chi Minh City, where the trip ends.
