Overview

Singapore is a compact city-state with trains that go almost everywhere. Most sights cluster around Marina Bay, Orchard Road, Chinatown and Bugis, and Sentosa Island to the south, with the Mandai wildlife parks in the north and Changi Airport in the east.

Do I need a visa for Singapore?

It depends on your passport; many nationalities, including Vietnamese, can visit for a short stay without a visa. Check the current rules for your passport with Singapore’s immigration authority before you travel. Every traveller must submit the free SG Arrival Card online within 3 days before arriving.

What is the easiest way to get around?

The MRT reaches almost every sight, from Changi Airport, Marina Bay and Orchard to HarbourFront for Sentosa. An EZ-Link card or an unlimited tourist pass, listed under things to do, lets you tap straight through the gates; taxis and ride-hailing apps are also widely used.

Which area should I stay in?

First-timers do well in Marina Bay or Bugis, within walking distance of the bay and museums. Shoppers like Orchard Road, families heading to Universal Studios often spend a night or two on Sentosa, and Chinatown and Clarke Quay suit food lovers and night owls.
