A seven-day small-group tour of Australia’s two biggest cities, flying direct overnight with VietJet Air from Ho Chi Minh City to Sydney and home from Melbourne. Three days in Sydney cover the fish market, the Botanic Garden, Mrs Macquarie’s Chair, the Opera House, The Rocks and Darling Harbour, plus a full day in the Blue Mountains with the Scenic World railway, the Three Sisters and Featherdale Wildlife Park. A domestic flight takes you to Melbourne for Flinders Street station, St Patrick’s Cathedral, Fitzroy Gardens, the Brighton bathing boxes and a ride on the Puffing Billy steam train through the Dandenongs. The last day visits the Sovereign Hill gold-rush town at Ballarat, with optional fruit picking in summer at your own cost and outlet shopping before the overnight flight home. The price includes international and domestic flights, 3–4 star hotels, meals as listed, entrance fees and a tour leader from Vietnam; the Australian visa fee is extra.

Day-by-day itinerary

  1. Day 1 · Ho Chi Minh City – Sydney

In the evening the group meets at the international terminal of Tan Son Nhat Airport, where the tour leader helps you check in for the direct flight to Sydney. Overnight on board.

  2. Day 2 · Sydney: fish market – Opera House – The Rocks

You land in Sydney around 10 am and the guide takes you to the Sydney Fish Market. After lunch, walk the Botanic Garden, sit at Mrs Macquarie’s Chair for harbour photos, see the Opera House and stroll The Rocks and Darling Harbour. Dinner, hotel check-in and a free evening.

  3. Day 3 · Blue Mountains – Featherdale Wildlife Park

After breakfast, drive into the World Heritage Blue Mountains, ride the steep Scenic World railway into the forested valley and photograph the Three Sisters. After lunch, meet koalas, kangaroos and emus at Featherdale Wildlife Park. Dinner and back to the hotel.

  4. Day 4 · Sydney – Melbourne

Check out and take a morning domestic flight to Melbourne. After lunch, visit historic Flinders Street station, Swanston Street, Gothic St Patrick’s Cathedral, the Old Treasury Building and the Victorian-era Fitzroy Gardens. Dinner and check-in in Melbourne.

  5. Day 5 · Brighton – Puffing Billy steam train

In the morning photograph the colourful bathing boxes along Brighton Beach. After lunch, head up to the Dandenong Ranges to ride the Puffing Billy steam train through temperate forest and over old timber bridges. Back to the city for dinner and overnight in Melbourne.

  6. Day 6 · Ballarat: Sovereign Hill – outlet shopping

Check out and drive to Ballarat for Sovereign Hill, a recreated mid-19th-century gold-rush town. From November to February you can stop at Bacchus Marsh for seasonal fruit picking at your own cost. Lunch, free time at an outlet centre, dinner, then to the airport for the after-midnight flight home.

  7. Day 7 · Arrive in Ho Chi Minh City

Early in the morning you land at Tan Son Nhat, where the tour leader says goodbye and the tour ends.

Good to know

  • Passports must be valid for more than 6 months after the trip ends; please include any previous passports for the visa application
  • The tour price does not include the Australian visa. Vietnamese passport holders must obtain a visa before travel: we send the document checklist, arrange the biometrics appointment in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City and quote the fee when booking. Holders of other passports or dual nationals should tell us so we can check entry requirements
  • Payment is in three stages: a deposit on booking, a second payment after the visa application is lodged and the balance once the visa is granted; we will confirm the deposit amount when booking
  • If a visa is refused, the tour price is refunded minus the application fees already paid to the consulate; other members of the same group who were granted visas still travel on the booked date
  • New Year and Lunar New Year dates have their own prices and terms; the return flight departs after midnight at the end of day six
  • Group tours need a minimum number of guests; if it is not reached, we will tell you at least 7 days ahead and agree a new date or a refund. Departure dates may shift by a few days depending on visa processing and flights
  • Children have separate rates by age and bed arrangement; guests over 70 need a health commitment from their family when booking, which we will explain
