Commune by the Great Wall is a cluster of villas in a mountain valley at the Shuiguan exit of the G6 expressway, about three kilometres from the Badaling section of the Great Wall. Houses of timber, glass and concrete are scattered over the hillside, surrounded by woods that turn gold and red in autumn. Rooms are minimal in pale wood, many with corner windows looking straight at the ridges; there is a long bamboo corridor, a dining terrace facing the mountains and an outdoor pool lit up at night. Guests have a pool, a spa, a gym, a restaurant, a bar, room service, a 24-hour front desk, airport transfers and family rooms; check-in is from 16:00. Suits families and couples who want a night in the mountains and an early start on the Wall before the day-trippers arrive from the city.

Check-in from 16:00, check-out by 12:00. For early check-in or late check-out, add a special request when you book and we will ask the hotel; it depends on availability on the day.
