Mercure Hanoi La Gare is a 4-star hotel on Ly Thuong Kiet Street right beside Hanoi Railway Station, a cream building that curves around the corner with French-style iron balconies. The name refers to the station next door, which makes it very handy for night trains north to Lao Cai or south to central Vietnam. Rooms have wooden floors, violet curtains and red accents, some with a bathtub, and soundproofed rooms help with street noise. Facilities include a fitness room, a 24-hour front desk, room service, facilities for children and airport transfers; check-in is from 14:00 and check-out by 12:00. The Temple of Literature and the Imperial Citadel are both around fifteen minutes on foot, with Hoan Kiem Lake a little further.
