Dusit Princess Moonrise Beach Resort is a four-star property from Thailand's Dusit group on Tran Hung Dao road, along the Cua Lap stretch of coast between Duong Dong and Long Beach. Low-rise wings wrap around a long pool that looks especially pretty when it is lit up at night. Rooms are bright and comfortably sized, many with two beds and garden balconies, which makes it an easy first island trip for families with young children. There are kids' facilities, family rooms, airport transfers, a pool, a fitness centre and a 24-hour front desk. Rates are gentler than the five-star resorts, yet you are still central: about 10 minutes to the night market and 15 to the airport.
