Mandarin Oriental Pudong sits on a quieter bend of the Huangpu just north of Lujiazui, with gardens and a riverside walk. Many rooms look across to the Oriental Pearl and the river, with the lights of both banks reflected on the water at night. Rooms are spacious in timber and jade tones, some with a bathtub right against the glass; there are themed rooms for children and rooms for honeymooners. There is a pool, a spa, a gym, airport transfers and room service; check-in 15:00, check-out 12:00. Great for families with young children and couples who want calm, still only minutes by car from the skyscrapers.
