Shanghai travel guide
The Bund, the Lujiazui skyscrapers, Disneyland and the water towns around Shanghai. Hotels, tours and things to do in Shanghai we sell, with real people to help 8:00–22:00 (GMT+7).
Overview
Shanghai has two faces: the European-era Bund on one bank and the Lujiazui skyscrapers on the other. Hangzhou, Suzhou and water towns such as Wuzhen and Zhujiajiao are only one to two hours away, so a five- or six-day trip covers both the big city and the old towns of the region.
March to May and September to November are the most pleasant. June to August is hot, humid and wet; December to February is cold.
Direct flights to Pudong take about 4 hours from Ho Chi Minh City and about 3 hours from Hanoi; Shanghai is 1 hour ahead of Vietnam.
4–6 days: 2–3 in Shanghai, 1 at Disneyland, plus Hangzhou, Suzhou or Wuzhen.
Visa rules depend on your passport; check the current Chinese visa or visa-free rules before you travel. Our group tours include a group visa for Vietnamese passports.

FAQ
Do I need a visa for Shanghai?
It depends on your passport. Many travellers need a Chinese visa, while some nationalities can enter visa-free or use visa-free transit for a limited stay; check the current rules with your airline or a Chinese embassy before you travel. Our group tours from Vietnam include a group visa for Vietnamese passport holders.
When is the best time to visit Shanghai?
March to May and September to November are the most comfortable for both the city and the water towns. June to August is hot and humid with long rainy spells. December to February is cold, sometimes very cold, so pack a warm coat; the city is lit up for the year-end and Lunar New Year holidays.
Which area should I stay in?
First-timers do well on the Bund or around Nanjing Road, within walking distance of the river and the shopping streets; Lujiazui suits those who want to look back at the Bund and be near the observation decks. Food and café lovers like Xintiandi, and families heading to Disneyland often spend a night or two inside the resort.
How soon is my hotel booking confirmed?
We hold the room with the hotel and confirm within 4 working hours (8:00–22:00, GMT+7). You are not charged until the room is confirmed.
How do I pay?
By card through OnePay, charged in VND, with 3-D Secure. Prices on this page include taxes and fees.
