Renaissance Shanghai Yu Garden is on South Henan Road, right by the old Yu Garden and City God Temple quarter with its curved roofs and red lanterns. Early mornings you can walk into the classical garden before the crowds, and evenings bring the snack lanes; the Bund is about fifteen minutes on foot. Many rooms look over the tiled roofs of the old town with the Lujiazui towers beyond; interiors are bright with blue carpets and tall upholstered headboards. There is a pool, a spa, a jacuzzi, a gym, children’s facilities and family rooms; check-in is from 15:00 and check-out by 12:00. Great for families and lovers of tradition who want both faces of Shanghai, old and new, from the window.
