Day trek through Lao Chai and Ta Van with a batik workshop

This is Sa Pa's classic walk: from the edge of town down into the Muong Hoa valley, through the Hmong village of Lao Chai and on to the Giay village of Ta Van. The route mixes footpaths between terraces, bamboo groves and concrete village lanes, with some slippery slopes after rain. What sets it apart is a hands-on session painting patterns on cloth with beeswax and dyeing it in indigo, the way Hmong women make their clothing. Guiding is in English or Chinese as named in the tour; pickup time, lunch and the return transfer appear when you choose a date. Best for active travellers who enjoy a full day on foot and want to take home something they made.
