In Beijing you visit the Summer Palace, Qianmen Street, the Great Wall, the Bird’s Nest, Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City, with a Peking duck dinner. A high-speed rail journey of over a thousand kilometres brings you to Hangzhou for a boat trip on West Lake and the Yue Fei Temple, followed by a night in the water town of Wuzhen. The final day in Shanghai covers the Jade Buddha Temple, the City God Temple, the Bund facing Pudong and Nanjing Road before the afternoon flight home. The price includes group flights, a group visa for Vietnamese passports, 4-star hotels, meals, entrance tickets, a tour leader and local guides. There are required shopping stops (tea, herbal medicine, gems, knives and silk), set out in the notes.
Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1 · Ho Chi Minh City – overnight flight to Beijing
At around 21:30 the tour leader meets you at Tan Son Nhat Airport for the direct after-midnight flight to Beijing; the night is spent on board.
Day 2 · Summer Palace – Qianmen – roast duck
Arriving in Beijing early, the guide takes the group to breakfast. Visit the Summer Palace, a garden of nearly three hundred hectares restored and renamed by Empress Dowager Cixi, then stroll Qianmen pedestrian street with its Ming and Qing-era shopfronts. Dinner is Peking roast duck before checking in.
Day 3 · Great Wall – Bird’s Nest
After breakfast, visit the Great Wall and its ramparts linking fortresses across the mountains. Lunch at a local restaurant, photos outside the Bird’s Nest and the Water Cube, and a stop at a Beijing gemstone showroom. Dinner and overnight in Beijing.
Day 4 · Tiananmen – Forbidden City – bullet train to Hangzhou
In the morning, see Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City; at peak times without palace tickets, the group visits the Temple of Heaven instead. After lunch and a herbal pharmacy stop, board the high-speed train to Hangzhou for a journey of just over five hours. Dinner and overnight in Hangzhou.
Day 5 · Hangzhou – West Lake – Wuzhen
After breakfast, visit the Yue Fei Temple honouring the Southern Song general, take a boat across West Lake past Three Pools Mirroring the Moon, Su Causeway and Broken Bridge, and stop at a kitchenware and silk showroom. After lunch, drive to Wuzhen to wander its stone lanes, old bridges and canal-side wooden houses. Dinner and overnight in Wuzhen.
Day 6 · Wuzhen – Shanghai
After breakfast, travel to Shanghai for the Jade Buddha Temple, a drive over Nanpu Bridge, the City God Temple and a local tea tasting. In the afternoon, walk the Bund for views of the Oriental Pearl Tower and Jin Mao Tower across the river, then shop on Nanjing Road. Dinner and overnight in Shanghai.
Day 7 · Shanghai – Ho Chi Minh City
A free morning after breakfast. At check-out time the guide takes the group to Pudong Airport for the afternoon flight to Ho Chi Minh City, where the tour ends.
