A seven-day small-group tour to celebrate Lunar New Year in Hawaii, departing on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th days of Tet and flying from Ho Chi Minh City to Honolulu on Oahu, with four nights in a central hotel near Waikiki Beach. On the first day you visit Chinatown, City Hall, the King Kamehameha statue, Iolani Palace, the Diamond Head crater, horseshoe-shaped Hanauma Bay and the Pali Lookout. Next comes Chinaman’s Hat island and the Polynesian Cultural Center, which recreates traditional villages of the South Pacific islands, with a buffet dinner and a large evening fire-dance show. Day three covers Pearl Harbor and the North Shore with Kahuku shrimp, the Dole pineapple plantation, the turtles of Laniakea Beach and Sunset Beach, and day four is free for the beach or optional tours. The price includes international flights, 3-star hotels, meals, transport, a Vietnamese-speaking guide and tips for the guide and driver; the US visa is extra.

Day-by-day itinerary

  1. Day 1 · Ho Chi Minh City – Honolulu

Check in at the Tan Son Nhat international terminal for the flight to Honolulu. On arrival, the coach and guide take you to lunch at a Vietnamese restaurant, then Chinatown, City Hall, the King Kamehameha statue, Iolani Palace, the Diamond Head crater, the Blowhole, Hanauma Bay and the Pali Lookout. Check in downtown in the evening, with free time on Kalakaua Avenue and Waikiki.

  2. Day 2 · Chinaman’s Hat – Polynesian Cultural Center

Swim at Waikiki in the morning before the coach takes you to see Chinaman’s Hat island. Continue to the Polynesian Cultural Center to explore villages recreating the cultures of Samoa, Fiji, Tonga, Tahiti and Hawaii, followed by a buffet dinner and the evening dance and fire show; back to the hotel.

  3. Day 3 · Pearl Harbor – North Shore

After breakfast, visit Pearl Harbor and see from outside the naval base linked to the 1941 attack. Head up to Oahu’s North Shore for Kahuku shrimp from a food truck, the Dole pineapple plantation, Shark’s Cove, Laniakea turtle beach and Sunset Beach at dusk; Hawaiian lobster for dinner.

  4. Day 4 · Free day in Honolulu

A free day for the beach, the streets and shopping, with breakfast only; meals, transport and guiding are at your own cost. Optional extras include a sunset cruise, a helicopter flight over the island, diving or a day trip to the Big Island volcanoes.

  5. Day 5 · Honolulu – airport

Enjoy a last early swim at Waikiki before the coach takes you to Honolulu Airport for the flight home.

  6. Day 6 · In flight

A day in the air heading back to Asia across the date line, connecting for the flight to Vietnam.

  7. Day 7 · Arrive in Ho Chi Minh City

Arrive at Tan Son Nhat, where the guide helps with immigration and luggage, and the tour ends.
