Day-by-day itinerary

1. 1

   Day 1 · Ho Chi Minh City – Kansai

   Meet in the evening at Tan Son Nhat international terminal, where the tour leader checks the group in for VietJet Air’s after-midnight flight to Kansai. Night on board.

2. 2

   Day 2 · Kansai – Nara – Gifu

   Land at Kansai in the morning, clear immigration and drive to Nara, Japan’s first capital. After lunch stroll Nara Park at the foot of Mount Wakakusa among friendly deer and visit Tōdai-ji, the vast wooden hall of the Great Buddha. In the afternoon travel to Gifu for dinner and the night.

   Day 3 · Shirakawa-go – Takayama – Nagano

   Morning at Shirakawa-go below Mount Haku, where thatched houses over 250 years old look like hands joined in prayer; in winter the whole village is buried in snow. Hida beef for lunch, then an afternoon in Takayama’s old town of Edo-era wooden houses, sake breweries and cafes. Evening drive to Nagano for the night.

   Day 4 · Matsumoto – Yamanashi – Mount Fuji

   Photograph Matsumoto Castle, one of the few castles keeping its original structure, with the Alps behind. After lunch pick strawberries at a farm, try the slides at Fujiten snow resort (ski gear at your own cost), view Mount Fuji and visit Oshino Hakkai. Dinner with extra snow crab legs and a sashimi boat, yukata and an onsen bath.

   Day 5 · Yamanashi – Tokyo – Narita

   After breakfast a duty-free stop, then into Tokyo for Asakusa Kannon Temple, the roughly 250 m Nakamise street and photos of the Skytree from outside. In the afternoon visit Tokyo Station’s Marunouchi side (December to February) or Odaiba with its Statue of Liberty replica and early Kawazu cherry blossom (late February to March, weather permitting). Night in Narita.

   Day 6 · Narita – Ho Chi Minh City

   Breakfast and check-out, then the morning flight from Narita home with lunch on board. The group lands at Tan Son Nhat in the early afternoon and the tour ends.
