Day-by-day itinerary

1. 1

   Day 1 · Hanoi – Paris

   In the evening the coach and guide collect you from the meeting point for Noi Bai Airport and Vietnam Airlines’ overnight flight to Paris. Night on board.

2. 2

   Day 2 · Paris

   Arrive in Paris in the morning and photograph the Arc de Triomphe, Place de la Concorde, the Champs-Élysées and the Louvre from outside. After lunch, the Eiffel Tower (tower ticket not included), shopping at the Lafayette department store and a Seine cruise. Dinner and overnight in Paris.

3. 3

   Day 3 · Paris – Troyes – Basel

   Drive to Troyes, a medieval town in Champagne, for the stained glass of Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul cathedral and its 16th-century half-timbered streets. In the afternoon continue to Basel, the Swiss city on the Rhine. Dinner and overnight in Basel.

   Day 4 · Basel – Iseltwald – Engelberg – Lucerne

   Reach Iseltwald on Lake Brienz, the setting of Crash Landing on You. In the afternoon go up to Engelberg below Mount Titlis (summit ticket not included), then on to Lucerne for the old town, the Lion Monument and the Chapel Bridge. Overnight in Lucerne.

   Day 5 · Lucerne – Cinque Terre – La Spezia

   A long drive of about 470 km to Liguria in Italy. In the afternoon visit the Cinque Terre national park and walk through Manarola, with its brightly painted houses on the sea cliffs. Overnight in or near La Spezia.

   Day 6 · La Spezia – Pisa – Rome

   In the morning, Pisa’s Leaning Tower, cathedral, baptistery and the Square of Miracles. In the afternoon drive about 340 km to Rome for dinner and the night.

7. 7

   Day 7 · Rome – Vatican – Florence

   Visit the Colosseum and the Vatican for photos of St Peter’s Basilica. After lunch, Florence: the cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore from outside, Piazza della Signoria, the Ponte Vecchio and a long-established leather workshop. Overnight in Florence.

8. 8

   Day 8 · Florence – Venice

   Drive to Venice and after lunch take the boat from Tronchetto to St Mark’s Square for the basilica, the Bridge of Sighs, the Doge’s Palace from outside, a glass workshop and a gondola ride on the canals (included). Overnight in Venice Mestre.

   Day 9 · Venice – Milan

   Drive to Milan for the Duomo, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, Santa Maria delle Grazie and La Scala. Dinner and overnight in Milan.

10. 10

    Day 10 · Milan – Hanoi

    After breakfast, check out early for the airport to complete tax refunds; there is no group lunch today. Around midday, board Vietnam Airlines’ flight to Hanoi. Night on board.

    Day 11 · Arrive in Hanoi

    Early-morning arrival at Noi Bai, with a transfer back to the original meeting point.

• Vietnamese passport holders need a Schengen visa; the tour price includes the visa fee and our team guides you through documents, the appointment and the deadline. The decision rests with the consulate
• Your passport must be valid for more than 6 months after the return date with blank pages; travellers with foreign or dual nationality should tell us when booking so we can check entry and re-entry to Vietnam
• The programme stops at a leather workshop in Florence, a glass workshop in Venice and free shopping time; buying is up to you
• The order of the route may be reversed on the ground; if a trade fair coincides in a big city, the overnight may move to a nearby town
• Group tours need a minimum number of guests to depart; if that is not reached, we will tell you in advance and agree another date or a refund
• Flight times are confirmed when you book; children have separate prices by age
