Day-by-day itinerary

1. 1

   Day 1 · Ho Chi Minh City – Paris

   Meet in the evening at Tan Son Nhat international terminal; the tour leader helps with check-in for Vietnam Airlines’ overnight direct flight to Paris. Night on board.

2. 2

   Day 2 · Paris – Champs-Élysées – the Seine

   Land at Charles de Gaulle early in the morning and head into the centre for the Arc de Triomphe, the Champs-Élysées, Place de la Concorde and the Pont Alexandre III. In the afternoon, the Eiffel Tower and a Seine cruise past Notre-Dame and the bridges, then the Fragonard perfume museum and the Galeries Lafayette. Overnight in Paris.

   Day 3 · Paris – La Vallée Village – Metz

   Photograph the Louvre and Notre-Dame from outside, then visit the La Vallée Village outlet outside Paris. After lunch, drive to Metz for dinner and the night.

4. 4

   Day 4 · Metz – Strasbourg – Colmar

   See Metz cathedral and Place d’Armes, then the Rohan Palace and Strasbourg Cathedral. In the afternoon, old Colmar and Little Venice, with the night in Mulhouse.

   Day 5 · Colmar – Engelberg – Lucerne

   Into Switzerland for Engelberg at the foot of Mount Titlis (cable car at your own cost), then Lucerne’s lake, Chapel Bridge and Lion Monument. Overnight in Lucerne.

   Day 6 · Lucerne – Milan – Venice Mestre

   Cross the Alps to Milan for the Duomo, La Scala and the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. Overnight in Venice Mestre.

7. 7

   Day 7 · Venice – Villach

   Boat to Venice island for St Mark’s Basilica, the Bridge of Sighs and a Murano glass demonstration. In the afternoon cross into Austria to stroll the old town and main square of Villach. Overnight in Villach.

8. 8

   Day 8 · Villach – Hallstatt – Salzburg

   Drive to Hallstatt, Austria’s lakeside village among the mountains. In the afternoon, Salzburg’s Residenzplatz, cathedral and the house where Mozart was born. Overnight in Salzburg or near Hallstatt.

9. 9

   Day 9 · Salzburg – Munich – Frankfurt

   Into Germany: in Munich, photos outside the Bayern Munich club headquarters and the BMW museum, and a walk around Marienplatz. Continue to Frankfurt for dinner and the night.

10. 10

    Day 10 · Frankfurt – airport

    In the morning see Frankfurt Cathedral and the Römerberg square with its old houses. Around midday transfer to the airport for Vietnam Airlines’ direct flight to Ho Chi Minh City.

11. 11

    Day 11 · Arrive in Ho Chi Minh City

    Early-morning arrival at Tan Son Nhat, where the tour leader says goodbye.

• Your passport must be valid for more than 6 months after the return date with blank pages; travellers with foreign or dual nationality should tell us when booking so we can check entry and re-entry to Vietnam
